Aerial Tram

No trip to Palm Springs would be considered complete without a trip up the Aerial Tram.  From the top of the world you can see for miles around and on a clear day see three states from the top!  It’s pretty incredible and an experience you should not miss.  There are many ways to approach the trip – by car, by bus, by tour company…just don’t miss it!

We arrived about 6:30 pm just before the sunset.  We could not see the sunset from where we were but dusk approached quickly.  Our reservation was for 7 pm and we had to wait for that particular tram.  In the lower “lodge” were restrooms and a gift shop so if you do arrive early there is a little something to do.  Check out their website for more information on seasonal changes before you go.

There are almost no words to describe the experience.  You should just go!  Even the locals take this for granted but shouldn’t!  The views are endless even at dusk.  It was a little hazy when we got to the top at 7:10 pm as the valley had been pretty hot earlier.  The tram is a standing experience – the floor rotates slowly as the tram moves along the line.  While it seems a little weird at first, one quickly adapts.  The views slowly change from the uphill version to the valley views.  You realize how small you are in comparison to the world around you.

The temperature can change as much as 30 degrees so be prepared.  The cost of the tram is about $25 per person.  There are lots of trails to hike if you are able accessible from both top and bottom.  Check the maps for more information.  Since we got there at dusk our options were limited…but we wanted to see the city at the crossover from day to night and it was worth that choice for us!

Enjoy the pictures and I hope someday you too can see life from the top of this part of the world.

  1. Good site! I really love how it is simple on my eyes and the data are well written. I am wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I have subscribed to your RSS which must do the trick! Have a great day!
