Our trip to San Diego was fast and furious. We didn’t quite get everything in that we thought we would but we crammed in as much as we could. We were pretty tired by the end of each day so I guess that was quite enough. I’m trying to figure out if the Go Card that I bought from Costco was worth the money or not…so here goes. Cost was $393.98 for two adults for four days. We arrived on Weds and jumped on the Hop On Hop Off Bus to start with. It took us on a two hour tour filled with the history of San Diego and a generally showing of what one should do. Cost was $78 each or $156.00 . It was for two days and we only used it for one…but still that was the value.
The next day we went to the zoo…Value $52 each or $104.00. (total $260.00) .
The third day was the Safari Park at $52 each or another $104 (total 364.00) – followed by the Harbor Tour for another $25 each ($50) – total $414.00 – now we were ahead. Our last day on the pass was spent going from museum to museum in Balboa Park – about $45 each ($90) total $514.00. I would say that we did pretty well spending the money up front at just under $400.00. If we had to pay for each museum individually we may have opted to skip them even when we only had fifteen minutes at the end of the day to see the Model Railroad Museum. So again, that was just added value. Could we have done more – sure…but not sure that our endurance would last much more than what we did!
We enjoyed San Diego – learned a lot about the history and its origins as a city. The climate is much milder than we would have guessed and it is quite beautiful. The traffic was manageable although google was a little confusing and we found ourselves taking the wrong exits a few times until we learned our way around. We would like to spend a few more days here if we get the chance. We still have tomorrow morning, since we don’t have to head to the airport until 2pm…so we will do something tomorrow depending on the weather. For now..the zoo and safari park were worth the trip all by themselves! (We especially liked the Safari Park where the animals were in more of a natural environment.) We found some great places to eat – and met some great people at the resort.
Happy Birthday to Van tomorrow! Woohoo…he’s a young 63 tomorrow. Life is only just beginning for our adventures.
