Kudu was a great sleep buddy. He loves to sleep under the covers with you! He startled me yesterday when I sat on the couch with a little blanket and he jumped up and started digging to get under the blanket with me. He is very warming and adorable. The guest room seems warmer so we stayed there again with Kudu. Van got up early to let the dog out. He stayed up but the dog returned to go undercover with me for a little longer. Around 6 however, Kudu was ready for food. He was doing a happy dance on and about the bed for food! So up we got and fed him breakfast. Coffee was on so I had a cup and enjoyed a slow lazy morning. I took care of the chickens once it was light – cleaned their coop and fed them some chicken scratch. All were happy and safe…always a good thing!
Breakfast was farm fresh eggs and bacon! There is not anything better than that! Working from the computer is handy for traveling like this, so both Van and I got some things done. I was able to book a Timeshare for a week of our Italy trip this fall that just came available for a week that we could use it. It’s on a little island near Naples and looks quite lovely. It will be a break from the fast pace of touristy travel that I’m sure we will do the first two weeks of our trip.
Lunch came later followed by chicken chores! Off I went to gather the dandelions for the chickens to munch on this afternoon…picked 5 eggs today…and refilled the water! All is well on the home front. Turns out one egg was slightly broken so we made a quesadilla out of it…(funny story – ask me sometime).
Today I painted a couple of loose landscape abstractions in watercolor. I added a little pen and that seemed to do it for me..so it ended up being a little mixed media. Small and quick…loose and light. Don’t know if this is the direction my painting might take, but I enjoyed the exercise. My goal is to paint every day…actually to make art everyday to be more precise. Often that involves painting but not always.
This afternoon we again hiked down to the creek. It was not raining so we could take our time and enjoy each step of the hike as we wished. What a beautiful area we find ourselves! After getting some exercise, we enjoyed a glass of wine on the deck as the temperature finally got to something quite pleasant and the skies were a bit blue overhead. Afterwards we fed Kudu his dinner (dog food with added bacon grease…yum).
Stitching time was next in my day – well after writing this blog anyway. I hope to finish a class project from awhile ago. It’s the four elements made into a container in the end. I have at least one side to finish. Looks like “Water” is the last one that really requires a little bit more. So that’s my goal for tonight…and to start my Time Project again. It’s a book about Creating Time and you work it out using art. So that’s my after dinner project. Dinner will be ready in an hour…then more project time.
I think this kind of vacation is superb. I’m really enjoying having enough to do to keep me entertained…and allowing me time to do things I just want to do as well!
